PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Gaines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Gaines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steven Stone!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaines pivots, looking for a leg kick but Stone is out of range and Gaines settles back down.
Stone shoots in looking for a takedown but Gaines manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stone's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Stone checks the leg kick nicely there.
Stone will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stone wants to pass the guard but Gaines is keeping the position.
Gaines wants to stand and escape but Stone is having none of it.

Stone shoots in looking for a takedown. Gaines tries to sprawl out of it but Stone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gaines manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gaines connects with a body shot that sends Stone's belly button to the back.
Stone shoots in for a takedown but Gaines shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Gaines lands a nice leg kick that just misses Stone's sensitive parts.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stone winds up and cracks Gaines with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Stone has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Stone and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
