Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hilio Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frasier Junez!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Junez's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Junez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie.
Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Junez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Junez's legs - danger averted.
Junez has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gracie passes Junez's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Junez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Junez actively working from the bottom here.
Gracie is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gracie connects with a nice short shot to Junez's temple.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Gracie uses his free foot to push down on Junez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Junez.
Junez is working to get back to half guard.
Gracie controlling the pace for now.
Gracie takes Junez's back.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Junez has hold of Gracie's leg, trying to break free but it's let Gracie lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Junez is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Gracie throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Hilio Gracie!
In his post fight interview, Hilio Gracie started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
