PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Denis Nazarov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikhail Filitov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikhail Filitov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nazarov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nazarov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Filitov regains half guard.
Nazarov content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Filitov is pressing down on Nazarov's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Nazarov wants to control from the top but Filitov keeps moving.
Nazarov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Filitov wriggles free and stands up.

Nazarov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Filitov to the ground. Nazarov is now in Filitov's guard.
Filitov trying to keep a closed guard but Nazarov is proving a slippery customer.
Filitov seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Nazarov scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Filitov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mikhail Filitov was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nazarov enables Filitov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nazarov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Filitov works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Filitov maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Nazarov could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Filitov has cracked it and Nazarov is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Filitov!
