Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johnson Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Shurk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Briggs comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Be Touched. Shurk has chosen Achy Breaky Heart as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Shawn Shurk has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shurk throws a body punch but Briggs moves out of range.
Shawn Shurk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shurk throws a sloppy head kick
and Briggs counters with a one-two to the body.
Briggs moves out of range of the strikes.

Shurk moves into the clinch.
Briggs tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A short right from Shurk.

Briggs manages to pull guard.
Briggs wants to sweep here but Shurk controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Briggs looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shurk postures up.
Shurk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shurk trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shurk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Briggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Briggs is trying to control the position but Shurk postures up.

Briggs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shurk can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Briggs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shurk's guard.
Shurk keeping moving, preventing Briggs from controlling successfully.
Briggs content to stall in guard here.
Briggs trying to control but Shurk is working from the bottom.
Shurk pulls Briggs in close to prevent any damage.

Briggs working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Johnson Briggs wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Shurk pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Shurk cracks Briggs with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

It looks like Johnson Briggs has been cut.
Shurk doesn't manage to clinch there - Briggs circles away.
Briggs looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Briggs shoots in but no luck this time.
Briggs uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shurk.

Shurk has managed to clinch.
Briggs tries to pull guard but Shurk won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnson Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Shurk creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Shurk lands a hook that snaps the head of Briggs backwards.
Briggs letting Shurk take a breather here.
Briggs jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shurk walks away with a smile on his face. Briggs gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Shurk has closed the distance and engaged Briggs in a clinch.
Shurk lands with a right to the head.
Briggs tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Briggs tries a body shot but Shurk blocks it.
Shurk scores with a shot to the side of Briggs's head.

Briggs is rocked!
A nice right hand lands inside from Shurk.
Oh Briggs is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shurk lands a left hand that snaps the head of Briggs backwards.
Shurk pushes Briggs against the cage. Shurk is working some dirty boxing. Shurk pushes off with a quick right hook! Briggs goes down! Briggs tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Shurk moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
