The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jefferson has taken the fight to the clinch.

Jones pulls guard effortlessly.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jefferson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jefferson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jefferson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jefferson's back instead.

Jefferson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Jefferson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Jones gets his way!

Jefferson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jefferson wants to take a breather but Jones manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Jefferson.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jefferson is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jones manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jefferson's best efforts.

Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
