PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has chosen Frank Zappa - Muffin Man as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. David Long has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, David Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexio Silva!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long scores with a hook.
Long ducks under a wild hook from Silva.
Long moves away from the strike by Silva.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Long sprawls well. Long wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
Long connects with a crisp jab.

Silva shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Silva prevents Long from standing back up.
Long avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Silva.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Silva looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Long is trying to stand back up but Silva is controlling him

Silva is looking to take a break and control but Long is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Long knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Silva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

An elbow from Silva crashes against the mat.
Long prevents Silva from moving into mount.
Silva throwing strikes but Long manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Long wants to stand but Silva has his arm trapped.
Silva gets back to half guard.

Long is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

A good leg kick by Long.
Long throws a hook but Silva blocks it.
Silva thows a body shot but no joy.
Long ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Silva rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Long counters with a nice uppercut.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
Silva staying out of range there.
Long throws a lazy uppercut
and Silva counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Long lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Silva has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Long finds it's way round the side to connect with Silva's head.

Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Long tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Long to the ground. Long escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Long stalks Silva and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Silva's face. Silva staggers backwards, shaken.
Silva on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Long misses with a wild body shot.
Silva dives in and grabs Long's left leg, looking for a takedown. Long pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
David Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexio Silva.
Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Long but Long pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Silva takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Long connects with a crisp jab.
Silva takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Silva takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Silva avoids a punch combination nicely.
Long fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Silva looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Long scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Long scores with a jab. Silva acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Silva shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Long counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Long swivels and escapes.

Silva closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Long did well to prevent Silva getting side control.
Long won't allow Silva to pass to mount.
Alexio Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.
Silva thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Silva is trying for a kimura here. Long looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Silva wins by kimura!
