Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Awesome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang tries to clinch but Awesome is having none of it.
Awesome lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kang circles away quickly and effectively.
Awesome lands a head kick!

It looks like Kenji Kang has been cut.
Kang checks a low kick from Awesome.
Kang closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Awesome shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kang napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kang is breathing heavily.
Kang can't do much from the bottom here.
Kang is looking to reverse the position.

Awesome is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kang has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kang seems a little lost for a moment, as Awesome dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kang takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Kang is looking to regain half guard here but Awesome keeps moving and retains side control.
Awesome is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kang will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Awesome really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mister Awesome wasn't active enough on the ground.

Awesome pushes Kang up against the cage in a clinch.

Awesome pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Awesome throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kang shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Awesome defends it nicely.
Awesome misses with a double jab.

An inside leg kick lands from Awesome.
Awesome throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Kang's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Awesome dives in looking to finish as Kang flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Awesome's strikes! Awesome is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Kang's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Kang was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
