Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daren Coulter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Fontana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fontana has chosen Till I collapse as his entrance music. Daren Coulter could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brian Fontana's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coulter avoids the head kick by Fontana.
Coulter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fontana.

Fontana is working an open guard so Coulter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Fontana shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Coulter pinned against the cage. Coulter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Coulter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fontana shoots for a takedown but Coulter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Coulter throws a right hand that Fontana ducks under and follows up with a left that Fontana also avoids with ease.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fontana is defended easily by Coulter.
Nice takedown defense from Coulter. No joy for Fontana on that attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fontana enables Coulter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fontana manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Coulter tries to stand and escape but Fontana is controlling the position.

Coulter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fontana shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fontana showed some decent athleticism there.
Fontana thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Coulter's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Coulter looks like he's trying to stand up.

Coulter regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Fontana.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fontana accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fontana fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fontana throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Coulter's waist but Coulter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fontana off to one side.

Coulter has Fontana up against the cage in a clinch.

Fontana throws a sloppy head kick
and Coulter counters with a nice leg kick.

Coulter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fontana is nestled in close to Coulter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Fontana shoots in looking for a takedown. Coulter tries to sprawl out of it but Fontana keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coulter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Coulter ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Coulter lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Coulter tries to clinch but Fontana moves out of range.
Fontana fails to land the takedown.

Coulter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fontana was covering up waiting for the punch and Coulter finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Coulter gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fontana is wriggling around trying to escape.
Coulter works his way to his opponent's back.
Coulter is landing with strikes. Fontana can't take much more of this.
Coulter is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Coulter gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Coulter gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Coulter apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Coulter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Coulter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fontana is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Fontana is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Fontana just trying to survive but Coulter is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Coulter is landing with strikes from the back.
Coulter tries to keep control of the position but Fontana is staying busy.
Brian Fontana has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Coulter gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Coulter has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Fontana's body.
