Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Szogun Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Machado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua comes into the arena with Infected Mushroom - I Wish blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Rua lands a jab to the nose.
Rua misses with a looping left.
Rua avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rua misses with a series of wild punches.
A jab from Rua finds it's way through Machado's defenses.
Machado tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Rua connects with a right hand. Machado shakes it off.

Machado should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Machado tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rua paws at him with a jab and circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fight stays on the outside here - Machado looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Machado takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rua pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Machado tries to clinch there but Rua circles away.
Rua is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Rua keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Machado has his takedown stuffed
and Rua counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Rua misses with a body kick.
Rua connects with a jab.
Machado moves to clinch but Rua breaks away
and Rua counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Rua fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Rua wants to slow Machado down by chopping away at his legs.
Machado tries to clinch up
and Rua counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Rua lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rua.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A left lands for Rua.
Rua connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Machado changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rua tries to avoid it but Machado manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rua to the ground. Rua escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Machado looks gassed!
Rua lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rua misses with the combination.
Machado misses with a right hand
and Rua counters with a thumping low kick.
Machado has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Rua scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Rua scores with a sloppy right hand. Machado should have avoided that one.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rua misses with a few strikes there.
Machado seems to have recovered his senses.
Machado wants to clinch
and Rua cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Good shot there by Rua.
Machado tries to clinch up.
Rua throws a push kick but Machado slaps the foot to one side.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Machado might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Rua has got the better of the exchanges.
Rua lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rua dodges the punch combination from Machado.
Machado lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rua circles away quickly and effectively.

Machado takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Machado fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rua avoids it really well and circles away.

Machado takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Machado is looking to clinch.
Machado takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Machado moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Machado throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rua connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Machado is breathing heavily.
Machado tries to close the distance and clinch but Rua swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rua lands a jab to the head.
Machado looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rua cracks Machado with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Rua misses with a jab, cross combination.
Machado takes a jab right on the kisser.

Machado's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rua connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Machado scrambles back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Machado gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rua tests Machado's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Machado throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Machado closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Rua scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Rua fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Machado to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Machado looks to clinch but Rua throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Machado taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
