Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earnie Shavers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter has chosen Walkie Talkie - DJ Shadow as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Earnie Shavers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Andrew Carter!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Shavers misses.

Carter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Carter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Carter wants to pass the guard but Shavers is keeping the position.

Carter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shavers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carter has managed to get both his arms back between Shavers's legs - danger averted.

Shavers feints a jab promting Carter to slip. Shavers then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Carter slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Earnie Shavers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shavers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carter circles away quickly and effectively.
Carter connects with a nice looking jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carter takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Carter counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Shavers looks to land a combination but Carter avoids it well.

Shavers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That was a close round but I would say that Earnie Shavers will probably get the nod.

Carter takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Carter lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shavers has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shavers and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Carter throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Carter shoots in and bounces Shavers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Earnie Shavers.
I think Shavers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
