Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pat McGroin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Adam Steel has the eye of the tiger tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGroin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Steel.
McGroin misses with a low kick.

McGroin dives in and scores a takedown into Steel's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Steel is on top in guard.
McGroin wants to stand and escape but Steel is having none of it.
Steel wanted to stand there but McGroin had control of the position.

McGroin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McGroin lands in his opponent's guard.
McGroin throws a strike but Steel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
McGroin is wriggling around but Steel manages to pass to half guard.
Steel thows a huge punch but McGroin dodges it nicely.

McGroin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steel on the ground.

McGroin is in trouble now - Steel has advanced to mount!

Steel is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McGroin is surviving well by controlling Steel's body position as best he can.
McGroin is desperately trying to improve his position but Steel has a good base and remains in mount.

McGroin squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Steel throws some wild stikes that McGroin manages to avoid easily.
Steel thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Steel throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Pat McGroin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McGroin is looking to get to half guard.

McGroin tries to hold on but Steel postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McGroin is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

A close second round but Adam Steel will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



McGroin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Steel napping and manages to drive through into side control!
McGroin tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

McGroin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Steel, who protects the arm well.
Steel can't do much from the bottom here.
Steel is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Steel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McGroin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McGroin trying to control from half guard but Steel is working away.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McGroin in particular looking to stall.

McGroin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Steel sees it coming and defends easily.
It looks like McGroin is going to stand back up.

McGroin is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Steel reverses the position - he's now on top in McGroin's guard.
Steel throwing strikes from guard but McGroin blocks nicely.

McGroin is working an open guard so Steel takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

McGroin lands with a cross.

McGroin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Steel tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McGroin is in Steel's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGroin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Steel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McGroin is looking to work some ground and pound but Steel has wrist control.

Well McGroin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
