Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Crandall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Nasri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Crandall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Nasri!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crandall tries to clinch up but Nasri circles away and keeps his distance.
Nasri shoots in for a takedown but Crandall shows good takedown defense.
Crandall darts in trying to clinch

and Nasri counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Nasri stands up and waves to Crandall to follow him.
Nasri fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Crandall avoids it really well and circles away.

and Nasri counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Crandall!

Crandall is squirming around, avoiding Nasri's attempts to control the action.

Crandall tries to hold on but Nasri postures up.

Nasri is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Nasri fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Crandall to the ground. Nasri is now in Crandall's guard.
Nasri wants to control from the top but Crandall keeps moving.

Nasri forces his way into half guard.
Crandall might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Crandall tries to roll over but Nasri keeps him under control.
Nasri perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Nasri's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Alex Nasri has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Crandall moves in looking to clinch but Nasri pushes him off.

Nasri shoots for a takedown but Crandall saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ricky Crandall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Nasri.
Horrible takedown by Nasri or perhaps it was just good defense by Crandall which made him look bad.

and Nasri counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nasri shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crandall as he jumps to the side.

and Nasri counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Nasri content to control rather than advance.
Crandall tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Nasri has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Nasri lands a big elbow.
Nasri controlling his opponent.

Nasri lands a nice shot to the head.
Nasri fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Crandall is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nasri sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Nasri tries to control but Crandall wriggling away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Crandall keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Alex Nasri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Crandall fails with an attempt to clinch.
Crandall tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nasri swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Crandall tries to sprawl but Nasri drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Nasri content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Nasri escapes and gets back to his feet.
Nasri tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Crandall swivels and escapes.

and Nasri counters with a takedown into side control.

Nasri decides to stand up, so the ref orders Crandall to his feet.
Crandall fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nasri is defended easily by Crandall.
Nasri blocks a head kick by Crandall.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nasri pushes down on Crandall's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Nasri moves into full mount! Crandall won't be happy about that!

Nasri has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Crandall's face.

The referee warns Crandall that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Nasri has hold of Crandall's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Crandall manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Crandall is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nasri.

Nasri slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Crandall wants to get back to his feet but Nasri is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alex Nasri was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Crandall tries to lock up and control but Nasri gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Nasri is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Crandall can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nasri shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Crandall as he avoids it easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nasri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Crandall keeps working.
Nasri remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Nasri shoots in and drives through. Crandall sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Nasri or perhaps it was just good defense by Crandall which made him look bad.
Crandall is looking to clinch but Nasri is avoiding it.

Crandall has closed the distance and engaged Nasri in a clinch.
Nasri has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Nasri fails to pull guard.

Crandall tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Nasri wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Nasri gets control of Crandall's arms and successfully pulls guard. Nasri will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Nasri seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Crandall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Crandall wants it to stay on the feet.
Crandall wants to clinch up but Nasri keeps it at a distance.
Crandall tries to clinch up but Nasri circles away and keeps his distance.
Nasri changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Crandall tries to avoid it but Nasri manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Crandall to the ground. Crandall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nasri is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?

Nasri shoots in for a takedown but Crandall shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Nasri counters with a shoot takedown. Crandall fights it but they end up in guard.

Crandall not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nasri slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Crandall leaves Nasri with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Nasri slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Nasri is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Crandall will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
