Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Victor Romero has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mark Pain's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Victor Romero!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain fails to land with a series of punches.
Romero looks to throw the jab but Pain is out of range.
Romero displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pain.
Romero shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Romero misses with a wild body shot.
Pain looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pain feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Romero has his foot on Pain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pain works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain wants to pass the guard but Romero is keeping the position.
Pain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Pain is looking to work some ground and pound but Romero has wrist control.
Pain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Romero on the ground.
Pain passes Romero's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Romero is trying to stand up here but Pain is controlling him well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain misses with a head shot. Romero uses the momentum to regain guard.
Romero keeping moving, preventing Pain from controlling successfully.
Pain is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pain wants to pass the guard but Romero is keeping the position.

Romero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pain stays in close to Romero's body and controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pain tries to free his leg and advance position but Romero is retaining full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pain engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Romero is keeping the position for now.
Pain controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Pain wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Pain looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Romero trying to control the position.
Pain's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pain trying to control but Romero is working from the bottom.
Pain connects with a couple of short punches.
Pain sitting in guard here, content to control.
Pain content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pain wants to pass the guard but Romero is keeping the position.

Romero had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pain defends it easily.
Pain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Romero looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Romero being controlled here, momentarily.
Pain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Romero is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Pain dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Romero keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Pain changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Romero looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Romero is not content to let Pain control the position.
Romero wants to control but Pain postures up.
Pain looks up at the clock and then as Romero takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pain smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Romero wants to get back to his feet but Pain drags him back down.
Pain working away.
Romero is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pain off and has taken his back!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Romero working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Pain is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Romero has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Pain taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Victor Romero!
A relieved looking Victor Romero thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
