PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryushi Fujita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fujita comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica-One. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryushi Fujita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex King!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King tries for a takedown but Fujita circles away easily

so Fujita counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Fujita is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
King is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Fujita drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fujita jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fujita drops back looking for a leg! King is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and King manages to kick Fujita off! Fujita jumps back into King's guard.
Fujita passes King's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Fujita is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Fujita tries to pass to full mount but King defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fujita seems to be looking for submissions.

Fujita is sneakily working for an arm triangle but King sees it coming and defends easily.

Fujita is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
King wants to control but Fujita is keeping busy.
Fujita performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fujita wants to work for an arm triangle but King is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
King won't allow Fujita to pass to mount.
King is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Fujita is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Fujita eventually gives up the hold.
Fujita wants to pass the guard but King is defending well.

King is looking to improve his position.
King manages to get to full guard.
Fujita stopping the sweep attempt from King.
King looks gassed!
King has his hands on Fujita's head, controlling the position.
Fujita slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Fujita thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fujita wants to control but King is keeping him busy.
Fujita landing a few strikes.


It looks like Alex King has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fujita throws a strike aimed at the side of King's head but King avoids it well.
The referee asks Fujita politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Fujita prefers to stall for the moment though.
King is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Fujita is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King is not content to let Fujita control the position.
King should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Fujita is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. King looks calm but he's in trouble here. Fujita gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. King is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Fujita lets go of the hold and King can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ryushi Fujita!
