PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rock Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Ellison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Head kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Walk. Anthony Ellison is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rock Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Ellison!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellison is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Head tries for a takedown but Ellison sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ellison doesn't manage to clinch there - Head circles away.
Ellison tries to score a power double leg takedown but Head sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ellison somewhat.
Ellison leaves Head with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ellison tries to close the distance and clinch up but Head swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ellison is looking to clinch.

A punch combination from Head misses.
Anthony Ellison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ellison throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rock Head. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ellison defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Head.
Head throws a nice looking combination but Ellison bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ellison instigates a clinch.
Head drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ellison lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Ellison manages to pull guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Head sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ellison's guard.
Ellison tries to kick Head off but Head keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Head is keen to just control but Ellison is a slippery customer.
Head is taking a breather. Ellison says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Head trying to control the action but Ellison is working from the bottom.
Ellison is in trouble now - Head has advanced to mount!

Ellison tries to reverse the position but Head maintains control.
Head tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Head cracks Ellison with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Head looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Head landing shots from mount.

Head dominating with strikes here.
Head tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rock Head dominated that round.
That's time! Head's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Head feints and as Ellison raises his hands in defense, Head changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Head has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ellison escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Head gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ellison tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Head's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Head stands and steps away. Ellison gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ellison lands a nice leg kick that just misses Head's sensitive parts.
Ellison tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Head paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Head circles away from the clinch attempt.

Ellison drives through and clinches with Head against the cage.
Ellison lands a knee to the body.

Ellison breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ellison wants to clinch up but Head keeps it at a distance.

Ellison darts in and clinches Head up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ellison pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ellison lands with an uppercut that bounces Head off the cage and back into range.
Ellison moves in looking to clinch but Head pushes him off.

Ellison drives through and clinches with Head against the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Ellison obliges.
Ellison unloads a knee to the mid-section. Head lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Head takes a knee to the side of the body.
Ellison throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ellison decides to pull guard.
Head stops Ellison from standing up.
Head wants to control from the top but Ellison keeps moving.
Ellison wants to stand and escape but Head is having none of it.
Ellison can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Head controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rock Head wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ellison lands a leg kick that knocks Head off balance momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ellison fails with a takedown attempt.
Ellison moves in looking to clinch but Head pushes him off.
Ellison fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ellison throws a head kick that Head semi-blocks.
Ellison checks a leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellison stuffs the takedown.
Ellison misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Ellison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Ellison shoots in for a double leg but Head sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A head kick misses from Head.

Ellison drives through and clinches with Head against the cage.
Knees to the body from Ellison.
Ellison jumps guard but Head stands there with Ellison around his waist. Ellison gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Knees in the clinch landing for Ellison.
Ellison lands a damaging elbow.

Ellison escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ellison looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ellison wants to clinch.
Ellison leaves Head with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ellison goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Ellison closes the distance and clinches.
Head has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ellison breaks the clinch.
Ellison wants to clinch up but Head keeps it at a distance.
Head shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ellison sprawls well. Ellison wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Head gets slowly back to his feet.

Head feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Horrible takedown by Head or perhaps it was just good defense by Ellison which made him look bad.

Ellison tries to clinch but Head moves out of range.
Ellison fakes the leg kick and cracks Head in the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ellison tries to close the distance and clinch but Head swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ellison's corner calls for a 1-2. Ellison obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Rock Head is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ellison tries to close the distance and clinch up but Head swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ellison lands a high kick!


Head is rocked!
Ellison lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Head crumples to the floor! Ellison milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Anthony Ellison!
