The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares tries to score a power double leg takedown but Aleksejev sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Palhares somewhat.
Rousimar Palhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aleksejev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Palhares pinned against the cage. Palhares gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Palhares darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Palhares is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
