The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Attack with a poor takedown

and Cruz counters with a single leg into guard. Attack didn't expect that.

Attack has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cruz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cruz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Attack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cruz has managed to get both his arms back between Attack's legs - danger averted.

Attack really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Attack looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cruz looking to sit in guard and control but Attack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Attack will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Attack pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cruz is keeping the position for now.
Cruz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cruz tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Attack thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Cruz is looking to reverse the position.

Attack wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cruz, who protects the arm well.

Attack swings around for an armbar but Cruz sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Attack's guard.

Cruz is working Attack over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cruz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Cruz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cruz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Cruz tightens his grip and picks Attack up, before dumping him to the ground. Attack manages to land in guard.

Attack is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Attack is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cruz defends it well.

Jack Attack overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Attack seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Cruz is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
