The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pyle sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Pyle scores with a shot to the body.
Wyatt attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Wyatt pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pyle is out of range and Wyatt settles back down.
Wyatt tries to land a front kick but Pyle steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

A jab lands there for Wyatt.
Pyle lands with an overhand left.
Pyle pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Wyatt throws a sloppy head kick and Pyle moves out of range easily.
Pyle connects with a body shot that sends Wyatt's belly button to the back.

Wyatt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pyle thows a body shot but no joy.
Pyle looks to score with a jab to the body but Wyatt is just out of range.

Wyatt throws a body punch but Pyle moves out of range.
Wyatt steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Pyle. That one must have hurt.
Pyle throws a jab when Wyatt was well out of range.

Wyatt slips a straight right by Pyle.
Pyle throws out a loose jab but Wyatt uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wyatt throws the kick towards the body but Pyle avoids it.
Gomer Pyle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wyatt on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Pyle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wyatt was covering up waiting for the punch and Pyle finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pyle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wyatt is proving hard to escape from.

Pyle postures up in Wyatt's guard and throws a big left but Wyatt blocks it.
Wyatt is trying to control the position but Pyle postures up.
Pyle lands a couple of digs.
Pyle throws an elbow that misses. Wyatt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pyle's guard. Nice move by Wyatt!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Wyatt has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pyle to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Wyatt is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pyle pulls down on the head and he's put Wyatt to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gomer Pyle! Gomer Pyle retains his middleweight title!
After winning the bout, Gomer Pyle thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
