Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kagoshima Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes has chosen NJJD as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Martin Gomes!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomes pushes Kage up against the ropes in a clinch.
Kage is trying to force a seperation but Gomes has the dominant position.

Gomes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kage trying to control but Gomes is working from the bottom.
Kage is really struggling to control Gomes but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kage engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kagoshima Kage.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kage.

Kage gets tackled into the ropes by Gomes. Gomes maintains the clinch.

Gomes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kage pinned against the ropes. Kage gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gomes throws out a loose jab but Kage uses good head movement to avoid it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kage enables Gomes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kage manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kage wants to get back to his feet but Gomes is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gomes throws a series of punches but Kage avoids them all with ease.
Gomes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kage circles away.
Nice defenses there by Gomes.
Gomes tests Kage's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kage takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Gomes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gomes lands in his opponent's guard.
Kage on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kage tries to get out of the position.

Gomes drops back looking for a leg! Kage is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kage manages to kick Gomes off! Gomes jumps back into Kage's guard.

Gomes passes Kage's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kage tries to get to full guard but Gomes has control of the leg.
Gomes passes the guard and advances to mount!
Gomes tries to control but Kage wriggling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomes avoids the attempt from Kage to control.
Gomes looking to control but Kage is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kage is looking to get to half guard.
Kage gets back to half guard.
Kage is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gomes maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Kage could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gomes has cracked it and Kage is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gomes!
