Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gregory Mandel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Hammany!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammany shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mandel but Mandel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A head kick misses from Mandel.

Mandel moves into the clinch.

Hammany jumps guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mandel won't allow Hammany to sweep him here.
Hammany controls Mandel momentarily but Mandel frees himself.
Hammany is pulling down on Mandel's head. It's preventing any offense from Mandel, at least for the moment.
Mandel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hammany keeping full guard, as Mandel tries to pass.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mandel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mandel is stalling in the full guard.
Mandel is fighting to break Hammany's control of his arms but Hammany is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hammany manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hammany with a couple of short strikes.
Mandel wants to hold on but Hammany pushes him away.

Hammany wants to finish this one by submission but Mandel is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hammany.
Hammany prevents Mandel from getting the reversal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hammany trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mandel tries to reverse the position but Hammany maintains control.
Hammany takes Mandel's back.
Hammany misses with an elbow to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hammany is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Mandel with him. Mandel is trying to defend but Hammany has an arm under the chin now! Mandel grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). James Hammany!
