The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palichini looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Makimbo is fending him off so far but Palichini persists. Nope, Makimbo circles away and we're back to standing.
Palichini misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Makimbo scores with a nice body kick.
Palichini throws a right hand that Makimbo ducks under and follows up with a left that Makimbo also avoids with ease.
Palichini could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Palichini throws out a loose jab but Makimbo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Palichini slips a jab and a cross from Makimbo.
Palichini misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Makimbo stuffs the takedown attempt from Palichini. Palichini gets slowly back to his feet.

Palichini loads up on a big right hand but Makimbo slips the punch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Makimbo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
I looks like Makimbo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Yotu Makimbo just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Diago Palichini has been cut.
Palichini uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Makimbo.
Makimbo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Makimbo swats away the attempt to clinch by Palichini.
Palichini fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Palichini tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Makimbo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Makimbo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Palichini looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Palichini tries to bum rush Makimbo with a series of wild strikes but Makimbo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Makimbo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Makimbo is stalling in the full guard.
Palichini controls Makimbo momentarily but Makimbo frees himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Makimbo counters with a shoot takedown. Palichini fights it but they end up in guard.
Makimbo wants to get up but he can't break Palichini's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Palichini is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Makimbo wants to sweep but Palichini has passed to side control!

Palichini stands up and we're back to a striking position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Palichini tries to clinch up.
Palichini stuffs the takedown.
Palichini swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Makimbo counters with a nice low kick that buckles Palichini's knee momentarily.
Makimbo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Palichini! Makimbo is backing up but he can't get away as Palichini lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Makimbo and ends the fight. Great knockout.
