PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Doctor Frankenstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilhelm Reich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reich comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Wilhelm Reich in Hell kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Doctor Frankenstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wilhelm Reich!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frankenstein fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Frankenstein shoots for a double leg takedown but Reich sprawls well. He's pushed Frankenstein's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Reich counters with a shoot takedown. Frankenstein fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Doctor Frankenstein. That's going to take a lot out of him.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Wilhelm Reich hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Reich shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Frankenstein tries to hold on but Reich pushes him away.
Frankenstein wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Well, with Reich on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Frankenstein is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Reich looking to break Frankenstein's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Frankenstein remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Reich will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
What can Frankenstein do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Frankenstein accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Reich is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Reich bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Frankenstein's guard.
Reich controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Reich's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Wilhelm Reich.

Frankenstein tries to clinch up but Reich circles away and keeps his distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Frankenstein enables Reich to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Frankenstein manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Horrible takedown by Frankenstein or perhaps it was just good defense by Reich which made him look bad.
Frankenstein really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Reich sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Frankenstein's guard.

Reich is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Frankenstein defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Reich.
Frankenstein is controlling an arm, preventing Reich from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Frankenstein sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Wilhelm Reich showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Frankenstein tries to lock up and control but Reich gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Frankenstein is looking to improve his position but Reich isn't that keen on the idea.
Reich tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Wilhelm Reich is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
