Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phantom Assasin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazushi Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazushi Sakuraba has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phantom Assasin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazushi Sakuraba!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakuraba misses with the combination.
Assasin throws a hook but Sakuraba avoids it easily.
Assasin looks to land a right hand but Sakuraba moved out of range.
Sakuraba looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Assasin is fending him off so far but Sakuraba persists. Nope, Assasin circles away and we're back to standing.
Assasin throws a lazy right hand but Sakuraba sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Phantom Assasin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sakuraba fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sakuraba bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Assasin scores with a one two! Sakuraba had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Assasin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sakuraba is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Assasin.
Assasin throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Sakuraba counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Assasin looks to land a combination but Sakuraba avoids it well.
No joy there for Assasin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sakuraba keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Assasin drives through and clinches with Sakuraba against the cage.
Assasin lands a left hand.
Assasin wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Assasin lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Assasin misses with a short punch on the inside.
Assasin throws a head punch that misses.
Sakuraba is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Phantom Assasin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kazushi Sakuraba.

Assasin lands a nice uppercut.
Sakuraba wants to take the fight to the mat but Assasin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Sakuraba drops down looking for an ankle pick but Assasin pulls his leg out and moves away.
Assasin lands a really nice looking cross but Sakuraba seems unphased.

Assasin looks to throw the jab but Sakuraba is out of range.

Assasin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sakuraba to score an easy takedown into full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sakuraba wants to control from the top but Assasin keeps moving.
Assasin looking for a sweep. Not yet Assasin, not yet.
Sakuraba throwing strikes from guard but Assasin blocks nicely.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sakuraba is looking for a kimura but Assasin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sakuraba to get the leverage.

That was a close round but I would say that Phantom Assasin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sakuraba slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sakuraba creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Assasin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Assasin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Assasin wants to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Assasin is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Assasin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Assasin tries to kick Sakuraba off but Sakuraba keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sakuraba throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Sakuraba wants to finish this one by submission but Assasin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sakuraba.
Sakuraba throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Assasin because Sakuraba loaded up on that one.
Sakuraba lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Sakuraba pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Sakuraba with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Assasin stops Sakuraba from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Kazushi Sakuraba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Sakuraba shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Assasin's guard.
Assasin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Assasin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Sakuraba tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sakuraba has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kazushi Sakuraba comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sakuraba has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
