The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Piotrowski fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Thompson to the ground. Piotrowski is now in Thompson's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thompson is on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thompson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thompson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Piotrowski is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Thompson off and has taken his back!

That's time! Piotrowski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Thompson throws a nice looking combination but Piotrowski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Piotrowski drops back, looking for a kneebar! Thompson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thompson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thompson!
Thompson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Piotrowski keeps working.

Thompson is looking to take a break and control but Piotrowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Thompson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Piotrowski down.

Thompson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Piotrowski has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Thompson but great work by Piotrowski.

Piotrowski has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Thompson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Piotrowski yanks on the arm and Thompson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Piotrowski.
