Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Julien Escobedo!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakers swings for the body but Escobedo moves out of range.
Escobedo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sakers.
Sakers fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Escobedo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Escobedo throws a head kick that misses.
Escobedo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sakers.
Raleigh Theodore Sakers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Escobedo misses with a head kick.
A left and a right from Escobedo both land. Nice combination.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Escobedo is bucking up trying to escape but Sakers cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Sakers lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Escobedo looks gassed!

Sakers breaks from Escobedo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Escobedo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sakers has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Escobedo's face.
BOOM! Sakers connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Escobedo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sakers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sakers postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Escobedo looks a forlorn figure.
Sakers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Sakers avoids the head kick by Escobedo.
Escobedo throws a jab when Sakers was well out of range.
Sakers dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sakers shoots in looking for a takedown. Escobedo tries to sprawl out of it but Sakers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Escobedo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sakers fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Julien Escobedo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sakers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Sakers stays in close to Escobedo's body and controls the position.
Sakers is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Escobedo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Escobedo is still in real trouble! Can Sakers finish him?
Sakers winds up and cracks Escobedo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Sakers is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Escobedo is hurt! He's hurt bad - Sakers fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Escobedo from any more punishment! Congratulations to Sakers! Great finish!
