The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Egans throws a solid leg kick but Pavella takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Egans.
Egans lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Pavella moves to clinch but Egans breaks away
and Egans counters with a nice body kick.
Egans throws a front kick aimed at Pavella's knee but Pavella avoids it well.
Egans fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
A chopping leg kick lands by Egans.
Egans jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Egans lands with a nice combination. Pavella backs away looking to recover.
Pavella takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Pavella clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Egans escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Egans throws a leg kick but Pavella sees it coming and moves out of range.

Egans tries to work over Pavella's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Egans looking to throw knees to the head but Pavella is blocking nicely.
Pavella doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Egans has Pavella pressed against the cage, preventing Pavella from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Pavella stalling in the clinch but Egans improves position.
Egans misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pavella.
Pavella has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Pavella prevents the takedown attempt.
Egans is trying to drag Pavella to the mat but Pavella just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Egans prevents Pavella from breaking the clinch.
Egans lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Egans scores with a nice hook to the head.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Egans as Pavella tries to tie him up.

Egans avoids the head kick by Pavella.
Egans ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Gerald Egans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pavella tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Egans paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Egans blocks a head kick by Pavella.
Pavella tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Egans manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pavella tries to close the distance and clinch but Egans swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pavella is looking to clinch but Egans is avoiding it.

Pavella avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Pavella is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Egans with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Egans lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Egans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A solid leg kick lands there for Egans.
Pavella wants to clinch
and Egans counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Pavella tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Egans manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Egans shoots in for a takedown but Pavella shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Owen Pavella has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Egans.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pavella lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Egans throws a head kick but Pavella moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pavella takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Pavella gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Pavella stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pavella enables Egans to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pavella manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Egans connects with a couple of short punches.

Egans is looking to stand up but Pavella won't let him.
Egans trying to control but Pavella is working from the bottom.
Egans's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Pavella has momentary wrist control but Egans slips an elbow through the middle.

Egans works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Egans moves nicely into side control.
Egans working the ground and pound but Pavella is defending the strikes.

Egans is looking to take a break and control but Pavella is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pavella wants to control but Egans postures up.
Egans cracks Pavella with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Egans immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Pavella is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Egans!
