Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donkey Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Donkey Kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rashad Evans!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong shoots in for a takedown but Evans shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Kong or perhaps it was just good defense by Evans which made him look bad.
Evans scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Kong takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Kong throws the kick towards the body but Evans avoids it.
Evans showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kong.

Evans drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ground and pound from Evans seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evans looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kong is avoiding damage well.
Kong gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Evans prevents Kong from standing back up.
Evans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kong is trying to stand up here but Evans is controlling him well.

Evans closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kong's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Evans not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

and Evans connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Evans throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kong tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Evans is in Kong's guard.

Kong is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Evans is controlling him.

Evans postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Evans is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Evans is pushing down on Kong's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kong is fighting to maintain full guard but Evans has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kong is not content to let Evans control the position.
Evans should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Evans drops an elbow to the side of Kong's head.
Kong is looking for a sweep. Evans is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Evans connects with a nice short shot to Kong's temple.

Evans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Evans dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kong avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kong throws a head kick that misses.
Evans will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Evans scores with a one two! Kong had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Kong misses with a takedown attempt - Evans sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Evans throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kong misses with a few strikes there.
Kong ducks right into an uppercut from Evans.

Evans looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Evans looking to sit in guard and control but Kong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evans can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kongis looking to pass into half guard but Evans pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Evans is in guard.

Evans's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Kong lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Evans!
Kong is looking to stand but Kong has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Kong throwing strikes here but Evans is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Evans really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Kong looking to control but Evans is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Evans can't escape the position.

Kong is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Donkey Kong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kong fails with a takedown attempt.
Evans blocks the body kick.
Kong shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Evans counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donkey Kong. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Evans is nestled in close to Kong, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kong wants to get back to his feet.

Kong is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Evans scores with a couple of nice shots.

Evans stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Kong is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Evans connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Evans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Kong throws a left and a right that both miss
and Evans counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Evans swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kong.
Kong shoots in looking for a takedown. Evans tries to sprawl out of it but Kong keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Evans manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kong shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Evans but Evans pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kong is not content to let Evans control the position.
Evans advances to full mount.
Evans lands a nice shot to the head.
Kong is trying to stand.

Kong taking shots to the head.
Evans breaks from Kong's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kong wants to control but Evans is having none of it.
Evans looking to control but Kong is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kong tries to hold on but Evans pushes him away.
Kong is in a horrible position here. Evans smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Kong is rocked!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kong takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Evans's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rashad Evans!
