PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Taurus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Weiss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weiss comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Through the Fire and Flames kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Erik Weiss is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Taurus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Erik Weiss!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weiss lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Taurus at a distance.
Taurus takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Weiss drives through and clinches with Taurus against the cage.
Taurus is pressed up against the cage. Weiss has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Taurus down to the mat. Taurus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Weiss walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Taurus checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
A head kick from Weiss lands but Taurus takes it in his stride.


It looks like Miguel Taurus has been cut.
Weiss tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Taurus pushes Weiss away with a front kick.
Weiss throws a head kick that misses
and Taurus counters with an outside leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Weiss throws a right and a left that Taurus avoids nicely.
Taurus takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Taurus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Weiss blocks the body kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Taurus.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Taurus.
Weiss shoots in and drives through. Taurus sprawls well.

Weiss tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Miguel Taurus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik Weiss.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Taurus just misses with a elbow thrown towards Weiss's brow.
Taurus has Weiss pressed against the cage, preventing Weiss from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Weiss misses with a hook to the ribs.

Weiss's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Weiss is leaning against Taurus and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Taurus pushes off an throws an elbow but Weiss leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Taurus keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Weiss's efforts to push away.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
A frustrated look appears on Weiss's face as he tries to break the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Taurus just misses with a elbow thrown towards Weiss's brow.

Weiss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Weiss fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Weiss throws a looping overhand right but Taurus ducks down to avoid it.
Weiss tries to clinch up but Taurus circles away and keeps his distance.
Weiss shoots for a double leg takedown but Taurus sprawls well. He's pushed Weiss's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Weiss tries to clinch up.
Weiss shoots in looking for a takedown. Taurus tries to sprawl out of it but Weiss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Taurus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Weiss pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Erik Weiss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Weiss will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Taurus feints and then cracks Weiss's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Weiss down.
Weiss looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A chopping leg kick lands by Taurus.
Weiss tries to bum rush Taurus with a series of wild strikes but Taurus uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A looping hook to the body misses from Weiss. Taurus does a little dance to reset his feet.
Taurus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Weiss paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Weiss throws a right hand that Taurus ducks under and follows up with a left that Taurus also avoids with ease.
Weiss throws out a loose jab but Taurus uses good head movement to avoid it.
Taurus lands a head kick. Weiss smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Weiss circles away from the clinch attempt.
Taurus with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Weiss throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Taurus's waist but Taurus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Weiss off to one side.
Taurus bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Taurus gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Weiss avoids a wild elbow strike from Taurus.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Taurus pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Taurus is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Taurus looks to throw an elbow but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Miguel Taurus will probably get the nod.

A nice leg kick lands there from Taurus.
Weiss throws a low kick but it's checked well by Taurus.
Weiss lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Weiss throws a lazy head kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Weiss misses with a wild body shot.
Taurus leaves Weiss with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Weiss falls off balance throwing a combination
and Taurus counters with a flying knee. Nice.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Weiss looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Taurus lands a big head kick that sends Weiss to the canvas! Taurus follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

An out of breath Miguel Taurus thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
