Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowal wants to clinch.

Kowal clinches.

Kowal decides to pull guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kowal looking to control.
Kowal is looking to stand up but Poyson isn't so interested in that idea.
Kowal looking to hit a scissor sweep but Poyson is one step ahead there.
Poyson content to stall in guard here.

Poyson stands up and waves to Kowal to follow him.

Kowal closes the distance and clinches.
Poyson looking for a takedown.
Poyson tries to pull guard but Kowal forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Poyson gets to his feet - Kowal follows without any prompting.
Kowal moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kowal throws a right and a left that Poyson avoids nicely.
Nice straight punches there by Kowal. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kowal.
Poyson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kowal.
Marek Kowal is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kowal turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kowal manages to end up in side control.
Poyson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Poyson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kowal looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kowal moves into the clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Kowal.
Poyson prevents Kowal from breaking the clinch.

Kowal manages to break the clinch.
Poyson shoots in for a double leg but Kowal sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kowal displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Poyson.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kowal gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Poyson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kowal smiles and moves away.
Kowal lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kowal wants to break free but Poyson has control.
Kowal digs a right hand underneath Poyson's ribcage. Poyson let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Kowal wants to get back to striking at distance but Poyson won't allow it.

Kowal escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kowal moves out of range of the body kick.

It looks like Spike Poyson has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kowal looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kowal fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Poyson, pushing him back against the cage.
Kowal wants to break the clinch but can't.

Kowal manages to break the clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Poyson tries to close the distance and clinch but Kowal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kowal's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kowal duly obliges.

Oh Poyson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kowal feints a jab promting Poyson to slip. Kowal then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Poyson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Kowal pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Poyson back to the cage. Kowal follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Kowal tries to clinch there but Poyson circles away.
Poyson shoots in for a double leg but Kowal sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Marek Kowal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Kowal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kowal looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Kowal tries to break free but Poyson pushes him back against the cage.

Kowal tightens his grip and picks Poyson up, before dumping him to the ground. Poyson manages to land in guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Poyson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Poyson moves in looking to clinch but Kowal pushes him off.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kowal enables Poyson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kowal manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Poyson gets to his feet - Kowal follows without any prompting.
A left and a right from Kowal both land. Nice combination.
Poyson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kowal swivels and escapes.
Kowal doesn't manage to clinch there - Poyson circles away.
Poyson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Kowal has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Poyson is trying to keep an underhook but Kowal manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Spike Poyson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Marek Kowal seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Poyson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kowal gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Marek Kowal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
