Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nikolai Volkov has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Paulo Kang's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paulo Kang!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nikolai Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nikolai Volkov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kang avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kang moves out of range as Volkov strikes.

Kang closes the distance and pushes Volkov back into the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Kang is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Volkov is defending well for now.
Kang misses with a punch to the body.
Volkov prevents a body shot from Kang.
The referee is keeping an eye on Volkov - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Kang has Volkov pressed against the cage, preventing Volkov from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Kang tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Volkov was well out of range. Poor timing from Kang.

Kang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Volkov misses with an uppercut. Kang saw that one coming.
Volkov takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kang thows a body kick. Volkov tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Kang looks to land a left hand but Volkov moved out of range nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Volkov moves forwards but Kang connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Volkov misses with a hook. Kang ducked under it nicely.

Kang fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Volkov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A jab from Kang finds it's way through Volkov's defenses.
Kang tries to close the distance and clinch but Volkov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kang displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Volkov throws out the jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Volkov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kang circles away quickly and effectively.
Volkov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kang bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kang lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Volkov loads up on a big right hand but Kang slips the punch.
Kang cracks the inside of Volkov's front leg.
Kang scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Decent striking displayed by Kang there.

and Kang counters with a thumping low kick.
Nice uppercut lands for Kang. That snapped Volkov's head back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Volkov might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Kang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kang's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Volkov keeps control of Kang as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
