PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Veikko Valkohammas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jolo Tianjengo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valkohammas missing with a left hand there. Tianjengo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Valkohammas scores with a sloppy right hand. Tianjengo should have avoided that one.

It looks like Jolo Tianjengo has been cut.
Valkohammas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tianjengo throws a leg kick but Valkohammas sees it coming and moves out of range.
Valkohammas tries to score with a low kick but Tianjengo moves his leg out of the way.
Tianjengo shoots in for a takedown but Valkohammas shows good takedown defense.
Valkohammas throws a series of punches but Tianjengo avoids them all with ease.

Valkohammas looks to land a right hand but Tianjengo moved out of range.
Tianjengo shoots for a takedown but Valkohammas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Tianjengo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Valkohammas just stands there and leans against the cage.
Veikko Valkohammas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jolo Tianjengo.

Tianjengo drags the fight down to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Valkohammas wants to stand but Tianjengo is controlling his posture from full guard.

Valkohammas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tianjengo, up you get!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tianjengo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Donk. Valkohammas catches Tianjengo right on the button with a cross.

Valkohammas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tianjengo manages to avoid it.

Valkohammas has closed the distance and engaged Tianjengo in a clinch.
Valkohammas digs a right hand underneath Tianjengo's ribcage. Tianjengo let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Tianjengo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Valkohammas lands a shot to the body.
A right hook to the body lands for Valkohammas.

Tianjengo jumps guard and drags Valkohammas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Tianjengo thuds his shin into the meat of Valkohammas's side.

Tianjengo tries to keep at a distance but Valkohammas has taken the fight into the clinch.
Tianjengo jumps guard but Valkohammas stands there with Tianjengo around his waist. Tianjengo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Valkohammas is leaning against Tianjengo and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Tianjengo blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Valkohammas lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Tianjengo backwards.
Tianjengo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tianjengo wants a takedown.
Tianjengo is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Valkohammas is keeping busy.

Tianjengo successfully pulls guard.
Valkohammas stops Tianjengo from standing up.
Tianjengo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Valkohammas's guard.
Valkohammas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tianjengo is controlling him.

Valkohammas wriggles free and stands up.
Tianjengo slips a jab from Valkohammas.
Valkohammas misses with a few strikes there.

Tianjengo tries to keep at a distance but Valkohammas has taken the fight into the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Valkohammas.
Valkohammas lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Tianjengo tries for a takedown but Valkohammas manages to get underhooks.
Tianjengo goes for a takedown attempt but Valkohammas pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Tianjengo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Valkohammas pinned against the cage. Valkohammas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Valkohammas just misses with a punch to the body.
Valkohammas wants to clinch up but Tianjengo keeps it at a distance.

Valkohammas pushes Tianjengo up against the cage in a clinch.
Valkohammas throws a head punch that misses.
Valkohammas lands a hook that snaps the head of Tianjengo backwards.
Valkohammas swings wildly with an uppercut but Tianjengo uses good head movement to avoid it.

Tianjengo decides to pull guard.

Tianjengo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Valkohammas won't allow Tianjengo to get back to his feet.

Tianjengo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Valkohammas is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tianjengo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Valkohammas's back instead.

Valkohammas is trying to stand back up.
Valkohammas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tianjengo on the ground.

Tianjengo is looking for the choke from the back position but Valkohammas is controlling his hands well.

Tianjengo looking to break Valkohammas's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Valkohammas remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Tianjengo will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Tianjengo working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Valkohammas is doing well to defend. Tianjengo seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Valkohammas is forced to tap and this one is over!
