PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Conrad Tiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat Elwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pat Elwood!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tiner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Elwood won't allow Tiner to pass to mount.
Elwood tries to get to full guard but Tiner has control of the leg.
Tiner is thwarting Elwood's attempts to control the position.
Elwood regains full guard. Nicely done.

Elwood has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Tiner drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Elwood dives on top into guard.

Tiner postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Elwood is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tiner, into his guard.

Tiner had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Elwood is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tiner Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Elwood's back instead.

Tiner is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Elwood is defending well though. Tiner let's go of the attempt for now.
Tiner is trying to stick to Elwood's back but Elwood is turning into Tiner. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Tiner's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Elwood.

Elwood shoots in looking for a takedown. Tiner tries to sprawl out of it but Elwood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tiner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That was a close round but I would say that Conrad Tiner will probably get the nod.
