Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mar Lane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xavier comes to the cage accompanied by Slipknot - Duality. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane stuns Xavier with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Xavier steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lane.
Lane throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

The fighters circling - Xavier throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Xavier throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lane tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Xavier is in Lane's guard.

Lane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Xavier swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lane got a little sloppy there for a moment and Xavier has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lane has managed to get both his arms back between Xavier's legs - danger averted.

Lane is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Xavier gets his way!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A looping hook to the body misses from Lane. Xavier does a little dance to reset his feet.

Xavier is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lane's half guard.
Lane has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Xavier is working away from the top position though.
Xavier is keen to just control but Lane is a slippery customer.
Xavier is stalling here. Lane is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Xavier seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lane has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mar Lane hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paulo Xavier will probably get the nod.

Lane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Xavier circles away.

Lane shoots in and bounces Xavier off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Oh but Xavier is tightening it up a little... Lane has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Lane reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Lane taps out! Nice BJJ there by Xavier!
