Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kiwi Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Lanzoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 54 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kiwi Bird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Lanzoni!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lanzoni clinches.

Lanzoni pulls guard effortlessly.
Bird wants to stand but Lanzoni has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Lanzoni will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Lanzoni has Bird pulled in close to control his posture.
Bird preventing the sweep.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Lanzoni scores a takedown into full mount!

Lanzoni is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Kiwi Bird is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lanzoni shoots in and bounces Bird off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lanzoni's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Lanzoni stands up from Bird's guard - Lanzoni perhaps looking for a knockout.

Bird tries to sprawl but Lanzoni drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Lanzoni decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Lanzoni is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lanzoni forces Bird back against the cage and clinches.

Lanzoni gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Lanzoni stands up and waves to Bird to follow him.

Lanzoni gets a double leg takedown into Bird's guard.
Bird knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lanzoni on the ground.
Lanzoni sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Lanzoni stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Lanzoni closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Lanzoni breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lanzoni looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bird is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lanzoni is controlling him.
Lanzoni engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Lanzoni dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Lanzoni scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bird wants to get back to his feet but Lanzoni drags him back down.
You can see the frustration on Bird's face as Lanzoni controls the position.

Lanzoni decides to stand back up.
Kiwi Bird is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bird tries to keep at a distance but Lanzoni has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lanzoni tightens his grip and picks Bird up, before dumping him to the ground. Bird manages to land in guard.

Lanzoni is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lanzoni stands up and waves to Bird to follow him.

Lanzoni scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Lanzoni landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Lanzoni slows the pace down in half guard.

Lanzoni in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Bird tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Lanzoni!
