The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamilton tries to bum rush Gerous with a series of wild strikes but Gerous uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gerous closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hamilton is looking for a sweep. Gerous is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gerous is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hamilton is in trouble now - Gerous has advanced to mount!

Gerous looking for a guillotine from mount but Hamilton is having none of it.
Gerous fails to advance to Hamilton's back.
Hamilton keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hamilton tries to hold on but Gerous pushes him away.
Hamilton wants to try and get back to his feet.
