Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Byson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Song of Ice and Fire Art Collection. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Byson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Martin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Byson.
Mike Byson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Byson tries to avoid it but Martin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Byson to the ground. Byson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Byson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Martin on the side of the head.


It looks like George Martin has been cut.
Martin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Byson.
Byson swinging wildly here.
Martin misses the shot to the body.
Martin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Byson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Martin counters with a thumping low kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Byson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Martin circles away quickly and effectively.
Martin thumps Byson with a low kick.
Byson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Martin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Byson looks to score with a jab to the body but Martin is just out of range.
Nice body kick there by Martin.
Martin throws out a powerful jab.
Byson misses with a combination
and Martin counters with a thumping low kick.
Byson walks into a stiff left hand from Martin.
Mike Byson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Martin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Byson.
Martin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Byson but Byson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Martin chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Martin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Byson to the ground. Martin is now in Byson's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Byson wants to stand and escape but Martin is having none of it.
Martin wants to pass the guard but Byson is keeping the position.
Byson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Byson keeping full guard, as Martin tries to pass.
Martin stops Byson from standing up.
Martin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Martin tries to free his leg and advance position but Byson is retaining full guard.

Martin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Martin stops Byson from standing up.
Martin landing some decent shots from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Martin prevents Byson from getting back to his feet.
Martin postures up in Byson's guard and throws a big left but Byson blocks it.
Byson has momentary wrist control but Martin slips an elbow through the middle.
Martin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Martin with a nice head shot there.

Byson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Byson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Martin circles away quickly and effectively.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Martin.
Byson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Martin jabs Byson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Byson looks gassed!

Martin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Byson is surviving well by controlling Martin's body position as best he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Byson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Byson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Byson is in a horrible position here. Martin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Martin lands a big shot there that rocks Byson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Martin won't let Byson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Byson somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Martin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Byson.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Martin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Martin dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Martin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Martin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Byson to score with a decent uppercut.
Byson walks into a straight right hand from Martin.
A punch combination from Byson misses.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Byson, as that shot connected.
Martin moves out of range as Byson strikes.
Martin throws a nice inside leg kick.
Byson throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Martin's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Byson dives in looking to finish as Martin flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Byson's strikes! Byson is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Martin's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Martin was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Byson!
