PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Por Pramuk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Escudero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Por Pramuk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eric Escudero!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pramuk tries to close the distance and clinch but Escudero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Escudero counters by moving into the clinch.
Escudero is working for takedown but Pramuk is calmly controlling the position for now.

Escudero turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Escudero manages to end up in side control.

Pramuk is letting Escudero control him for a moment.
Escudero creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Escudero wants to control but Pramuk is keeping him busy.
Escudero might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pramuk kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Pramuk wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Eric Escudero has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Escudero feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pramuk throws a series of punches but Escudero avoids them all with ease.

Pramuk ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Escudero decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pramuk regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Escudero.

Escudero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Escudero wants to control from the top but Pramuk keeps moving.

Pramuk fails to land the takedown.
Escudero throws a series of punches but Pramuk moves out of range.

Pramuk gets caught flat footed, as Escudero shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Escudero seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Escudero lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Escudero seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Escudero thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Escudero is controlling the pace.

Escudero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Escudero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pramuk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Escudero has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pramuk takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Escudero tries to score with some ground and pound. Pramuk controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Escudero remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
