Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hung Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drake Vonstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dong comes to the cage accompanied by Lollipop - BIGBANG and 2NE1. Vonstein has chosen Seether - Remedy as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hung Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Drake Vonstein!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dong throws a big shot that misses.
Dong plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Dong throws a lazy right hand but Vonstein sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Vonstein darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Dong preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Dong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vonstein thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dong's head.

Vonstein seems to be working for a kimura but Dong defends the submission attempt.
Dong is looking to improve his position.
Vonstein is keen to just control but Dong is a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dong wants to improve his position but Vonstein is controlling well.
Vonstein is trying to control. Dong wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Vonstein throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Vonstein is pressing down on Dong's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dong is holding on for now.
Dong is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vonstein's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vonstein's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vonstein manages to reverse the position and now he's in Dong's guard. Nice work there by Vonstein.
Dong wants to control the position but Vonstein says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Vonstein is looking for a kimura but Dong is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vonstein to get the leverage.
Dong keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Dong is in trouble now - Vonstein has advanced to mount!
Vonstein is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dong can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Dong trying to hold on to Vonstein's head to control him but Vonstein postures up.
Vonstein thows a huge punch but Dong dodges it nicely.
Dong wants to get back to full guard.
Dong desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Vonstein takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Vonstein wants to work for an arm triangle but Dong is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Dong is refusing to be controlled, as Vonstein sits in half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vonstein is looking to stall here but Dong recovers full guard.
Dong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vonstein is one step ahead there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vonstein trying to control the position from guard on top but Dong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hung Dong will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Vonstein is looking to land body kicks.
Dong fails to land with a series of punches.
Vonstein pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dong swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dong throws the kick towards the body but Vonstein avoids it.
Dong avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Dong shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dong was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Vonstein regains half guard.
Vonstein tries to roll over but Dong keeps him under control.

Vonstein wants to control but Dong is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Vonstein is trying to get back to full guard.

Vonstein looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Dong winds up and cracks Vonstein with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Dong is working for a submission of some sort.

Dong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vonstein knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Vonstein regains full guard. Nicely done.

Vonstein looking for a guillotine here but Dong defends easily.

Vonstein moves into full guard.
Dong wants to control from the top but Vonstein keeps moving.

Vonstein looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dong trying to control but Vonstein is working from the bottom.
Vonstein utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dong lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hung Dong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vonstein pulls Dong in close to his closed guard and prevents Dong from doing any damage or advancing position.
Dong trying to control but Vonstein is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hung Dong dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Dong throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dong.
Vonstein blocks a head kick by Dong.

Vonstein rushes Dong and presses him up against the cage.

Dong turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Vonstein manages to get back to half guard.
Vonstein works his way to full guard. Good work.
Dong works over Vonstein with some ground and pound from guard.
Dong won't allow Vonstein to sweep him here.
Vonstein manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dong manages to get himself to full guard.

Dong keeping moving, preventing Vonstein from controlling successfully.

Vonstein stays in close to Dong's body and controls the position.

Drake Vonstein has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

You can see the frustration on Dong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Vonstein landing a few strikes.

Vonstein connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Dong some visible discomfort.

Vonstein is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vonstein looking to control but instead Dong has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

Vonstein passes the guard and advances to mount!

Dong can't escape the position.

Vonstein lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
BOOM! Vonstein connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Vonstein tries to control but Dong wriggling away.
Vonstein has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Drake Vonstein comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dong has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
