Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bayma Maris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bayma Maris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cruz tries to avoid it but Maris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cruz to the ground. Cruz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Maris walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Cruz clinches up against the cage.

Cruz lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Cruz prevents Maris from breaking the clinch.

Cruz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Maris thows a left - swing and a miss!
Cruz misses with a double jab.
Cruz tries for a takedown but Maris sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cruz shoots in but Maris avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cruz chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Maris can pounce on him.
Maris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Maris throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Bayma Maris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Cruz.
Maris tries for a takedown but Cruz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maris will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Cruz up against the cage.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Maris for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Maris tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cruz's elbow.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Felipe Cruz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Maris stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
Maris misses with a double jab.
Cruz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maris avoids it really well and circles away.
Cruz wants to clinch up but Maris keeps it at a distance.

Maris misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A head kick misses from Cruz.
An inside leg kick lands from Maris.
A punch combination from Maris misses.
Cruz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cruz wants to clinch up but Maris keeps it at a distance.

Maris tries to keep at a distance but Cruz has taken the fight into the clinch.

Cruz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Maris closes the distance and clinches up with Cruz, looking for a takedown. Maris pushes Cruz against the cage but Cruz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Maris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cruz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cruz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cruz has control of Maris's left arm, preventing Maris from doing any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cruz is on top in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Cruz pushes down on Maris's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Cruz clinches up with Maris and pushes him back against the cage.
Cruz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Maris fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Maris gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Maris circles away from the clinch attempt.
Maris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Maris's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cruz connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Maris scrambles back to his feet.
Cruz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Maris.
Cruz feints with a jab and clips Maris right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Maris is sent crashing into the canvas and Cruz leaps in for the kill! Maris tries to get to his feet but Cruz is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Maris is in need of a savior and steps in!
