PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Domino Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Six (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Domino Harvey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henry Six!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Six as Harvey shoots in.
Harvey closes the distance and clinches up with Six, looking for a takedown. Harvey pushes Six against the cage but Six circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Harvey bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Harvey shoots in but Six avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Domino Harvey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Six tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Six closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Six slows the pace down in half guard.
Harvey tries to get to full guard but Six has control of the leg.
Six with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Let's hope that Six has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Harvey wants to improve his position but Six is controlling well.

Six not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Six lands strikes from half guard.
Harvey is looking to control Six's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Harvey avoid being mounted?
Harvey wants to get back to full guard.
Six is taking a breather. Harvey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Harvey fails in his attempt to clinch.
Harvey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Six pinned against the cage. Six gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Harvey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Six is looking to score with low kicks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Six fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Harvey manages to avoid it.
Harvey doesn't manage to clinch there - Six circles away.

Six shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Harvey is trying to defend but Six finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Six working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Six trying to control the pace.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Six winds up and cracks Harvey with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Six scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Six keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Harvey tries to kick Six off but Six keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Harvey avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Six.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Six connects with a nice short shot to Harvey's temple.
Six lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Harvey wants to get back to full guard.
Six landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Six trying to control the pace.
Six is thwarting Harvey's attempts to control the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Harvey has hold of Six's hands but Six slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Six stops Harvey from getting back to his feet.
Six is taking a breather. Harvey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
It looks like Six might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Six's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Six.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Six dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Six avoids the body shot from Harvey.

Six closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Harvey quickly recovers to half guard.
Still in half guard, Six seems content to control.
Six looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Six not doing much here.

Six drops an elbow to the side of Harvey's head.

Six content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Harvey trying to hold on to Six's head to control him but Six postures up.
Six working the head and body with strikes.
Six is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Six has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Harvey throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Six's head.
Six tries to land a front kick but Harvey steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Six stuns Harvey with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Six is looking to chop away at Harvey's legs.
Harvey scores with a head kick. Six tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Six avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Six misses with a body kick.
Six swats away the attempt to clinch by Harvey.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jab, jab by Six - just one landing.
Six moves out of range as Harvey throws a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harvey fails to land the takedown.
Harvey slips under a jab from Six.
Six throws an overhand right that lands on Harvey's shoulder, as Harvey tries to avoid the shot.
Harvey moves in looking to clinch but Six pushes him off.
Harvey has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Six moves away from the strike by Harvey.
Harvey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Six avoids it really well and circles away.
Some wild striking there from Six.
Harvey closes this distance looking for a takedown but Six circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Domino Harvey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harvey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Six sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Harvey somewhat.
Six loads up on a big right hand but Harvey slips the punch.
Harvey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Six as he jumps to the side.
Six with a jab.
Harvey dives in and grabs Six's left leg, looking for a takedown. Six pushes down on Harvey's head and hops out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Six lands a jab to Harvey's midsection.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Six throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Harvey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Six pinned against the cage. Six gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Six paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Six showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Six misses with a low kick.
Six tries to bum rush Harvey with a series of wild strikes but Harvey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Six scores a takedown into full mount!
Six scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Harvey tries to lock up and control but Six gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Six is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Harvey can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Harvey is rocked!
Six punishing his opponent with strikes.
Oh Harvey is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Six! Harvey is hurt baaadly! Six is firing away with more strikes - Harvey is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Henry Six!
A very excited looking Henry Six rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
