PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blasting Houston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aram Khorozian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khorozian has chosen Ants as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blasting Houston !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aram Khorozian!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khorozian throws a big shot that misses.
Khorozian changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Houston tries to avoid it but Khorozian manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Houston to the ground. Houston escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Khorozian closes the distance and clinches up with Houston , looking for a takedown. Khorozian pushes Houston against the cage but Houston circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Khorozian shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Houston defends it nicely.
Blasting Houston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aram Khorozian.

Houston moves into range and clinches up with Khorozian.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Houston .
Houston is trying to break the clinch but Khorozian has him pressed against the cage.
Khorozian is looking for a takedown.

Houston lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!


It looks like Aram Khorozian has been cut.
Khorozian has Houston pressed against the cage, preventing Houston from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Houston 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Khorozian misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Houston throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Khorozians head.

Houston breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Khorozian shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Houston moves into range and clinches up with Khorozian.
Khorozian has Houston pressed against the cage, preventing Houston from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Houston breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Houston moves in looking to clinch but Khorozian pushes him off.
Houston connects with a right hand. Khorozian shakes it off.
Khorozian shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Houston but Houston pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khorozian tries to score a power double leg takedown but Houston sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Khorozian somewhat.
Houston lands with a slapping head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Houston fails in his attempt to clinch.
Khorozian fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blasting Houston dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Houston is looking to clinch but Khorozian is avoiding it.
Houston keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Khorozian darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Houston avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Khorozian.

Khorozian is looking for a kimura here.
Houston tries to kick Khorozian off but Khorozian keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Khorozian is figuring out what he wants to do next.

We're going to have a standup here because Blasting Houston wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Houston fails in his attempt to clinch.

Khorozian shoots in and gets a takedown into Houston 's guard.
Khorozian trying to control but Houston is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Aram Khorozian has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Khorozian dodges the punch combination from Houston .
Khorozian misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Khorozian shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Houston pinned against the cage. Houston gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Aram Khorozian showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Houston displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Khorozian.
Khorozian shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Houston sprawls well. Houston wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Khorozian gets slowly back to his feet.
Houston lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Blasting Houston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aram Khorozian.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Houston enables Khorozian to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Houston manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Khorozian takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Khorozian wants to control from the top but Houston keeps moving.
Houston can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Khorozian controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aram Khorozian was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Houston throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Khorozian moves into the clinch successfully.

Houston wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Houston misses with a punch to the body.
Houston wants to break free but Khorozian has control.

Houston throws an elbow that misses.
Houston prevents the takedown attempt.
Houston scores with a knee to the head.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Houston .
Houston misses with an elbow strike.
Houston misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Khorozian.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Houston has had enough of the clinch but Khorozian keeps him there for the moment.

Khorozian successfully pulls guard.

Khorozian working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Houston doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Houston manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Khorozian has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Houston has passed into side control.
Khorozian tries to improve position but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khorozian gets back to half guard.
Khorozian gets back to full guard.
Houston really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Khorozian is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Houston is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Aram Khorozian comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Khorozian has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
