The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Packer counters with a shoot takedown. Smith fights it but they end up in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Packer wants to stand but Smith has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Packer has gone for a leg lock! Smith slips out almost immediately though and dives into Packer's guard.

Packer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Packer eventually gives up the hold.

Packer gets to his feet. Smith looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Packer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Let's hope that Packer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Packer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Packer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Packer's back!

Smith looking to break Packer's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Packer remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Smith will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

I would just about give that final round to Kane Packer.
Well Packer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
