Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tim Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Some wild striking there from Velasquez.
Cooper is looking to clinch but Velasquez is avoiding it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A head kick misses from Velasquez.
Velasquez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Velasquez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cooper.
Cooper connects with a high kick.
Velasquez throws a series of punches but Cooper avoids them all with ease.
Cooper wants to clinch up but Velasquez keeps it at a distance.

Cooper decides to stand up, so the ref orders Velasquez to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cooper moves into the clinch successfully.
Velasquez is trying to push Cooper away but Cooper has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Cooper could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cooper jumps guard but Velasquez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Cooper has Velasquez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Velasquez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Velasquez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Velasquez, as that shot connected.
Cooper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Velasquez throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Velasquez throws a series of strikes that have Cooper backpedaling.
Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Velasquez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Velasquez looks to land a combination. Cooper sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Horrible takedown by Cooper or perhaps it was just good defense by Velasquez which made him look bad.

Cooper dives in and grabs Velasquez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Velasquez pushes down on Cooper's head and hops out.

Cain Velasquez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Velasquez throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Coopers head.

A bit of stalling here from Cooper.
Velasquez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Velasquez tries to break the clinch but Cooper is controlling the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Velasquez fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cooper.
