PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Beta Peace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Warrenger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warrenger has chosen Dope: Die mf die as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Beta Peace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Warrenger!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Warrenger gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Warrenger looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Peace passes into side control.
Warrenger manages to get back to half guard.
Peace not doing much here.
Warrenger trying to hold on to Peace's head to control him but Peace postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, if Peace is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Peace decides to stand up.
Warrenger tries for a takedown but Peace sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Warrenger throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Peace tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Warrenger is in Peace's guard.

Peace is controlling Warrenger's posture.
Peace is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Peace has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Warrenger has passed into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Peace's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Peace is looking for a sweep.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Warrenger stands up and beckons Peace to his feet.

Peace thows a body shot but no joy.

Peace bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Warrenger sneaks back into half guard.
Peace controlling the action here.
Peace prevents Warrenger from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Warrenger wants to control but Peace is keeping busy.
Peace controlling the pace.
Peace winds up and cracks Warrenger with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Peace knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Warrenger on the ground.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Beta Peace wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Horrible takedown by Warrenger or perhaps it was just good defense by Peace which made him look bad.
Peace jabs Warrenger right on the nose. Warrenger blinks but takes it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beta Peace dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Warrenger tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Peace swivels and escapes.


It looks like Mike Warrenger has been cut.
Peace throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Warrenger's waist but Warrenger gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peace off to one side.

Peace scores a takedown into full mount!
Warrenger swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Peace trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Warrenger tries to reverse the position but Peace maintains control.
Peace landing strikes from the mount.
Peace looking to control and managing it successfully.
Peace postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Warrenger looks a forlorn figure.

Warrenger flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Warrenger is squirming around, avoiding Peace's attempts to control the action.
Peace tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Warrenger tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Peace tries to control but Warrenger wriggling away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Beta Peace.
Peace throws a body punch but Warrenger moves out of range.
Peace shoots in and drives through. Warrenger sprawls well.
Peace fails with an attempt to clinch.

Peace clinches up against the cage.

Warrenger has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Peace uses from the top position.

Peace wants to control from the top but Warrenger keeps moving.
Beta Peace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We're going to have a standup here because Beta Peace wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Peace looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Peace has a takedown stuffed.

Peace closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Warrenger to the mat! Warrenger manages to get full guard.

Peace controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Warrenger is on top in guard.
Warrenger wants to stand but Peace is controlling his posture from full guard.

Warrenger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Peace has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Warrenger has managed to get both his arms back between Peace's legs - danger averted.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Beta Peace dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Mike Warrenger's cut.

Peace fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Warrenger avoids it really well and circles away.

Peace shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Peace showed some decent athleticism there.

Peace wants to stand up but Warrenger is controlling the position.
Peace stops Warrenger from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Warrenger manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Peace trying to control the position from guard on top but Warrenger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Warrenger pushes Peace off and scrambles back to his feet.
Beta Peace is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Warrenger fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Warrenger.
Warrenger takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Peace moves into the clinch.

Peace lands a nice knee to the body.
Peace dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Peace creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Peace breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Peace is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Peace fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Warrenger manages to avoid it.
Peace lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Peace is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Peace is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Peace stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Warrenger to get to his feet.
Warrenger leaves Peace with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Peace misses with a head kick.

Warrenger tries to keep at a distance but Peace has taken the fight into the clinch.
Peace is trying to pull guard but Warrenger has him pressed against the cage.

Warrenger takes a knee right on the jaw!


That has opened up Mike Warrenger's cut even more.
Peace jumps guard but Warrenger stands there with Peace around his waist. Peace gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Warrenger tries for a takedown but Peace manages to get underhooks.

Peace's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Warrenger shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peace but Peace pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Warrenger shoots in looking for a takedown. Peace tries to sprawl out of it but Warrenger keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Peace manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Peace scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Mike Warrenger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Beta Peace is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Peace shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Warrenger napping and manages to drive through into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Beta Peace showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Peace has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
