The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Remarque keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Remarque gets caught flat footed, as Hardcore shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hardcore avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Remarque not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Remarque can't keep his opponent in guard - Hardcore advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hardcore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hardcore wants to pass to mount but Remarque is defending the position.

Remarque is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hardcore's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hardcore's back!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hardcore looking to hit a scissor sweep but Remarque is one step ahead there.

Remarque drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hardcore dives on top into guard.
Hardcore is breathing heavily.
Hardcore throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hardcore has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Remarque working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hardcore doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hardcore manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Remarque had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hardcore is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Remarque Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hardcore's back instead.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Remarque is working for a rear naked choke. Hardcore is not defending it well and Remarque has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Hardcore refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Hardcore's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
