The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brooking scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cartman is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Brooking has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Brooking looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Brooking wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cartman, who protects the arm well.

Brooking is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cartman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cartman wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Brooking tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brooking has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brooking jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cartman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cartman and Brooking has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
