PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arto Bambang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Besik Shamba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Besik Shamba!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bambang looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bambang fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shamba avoids it really well and circles away.
Bambang misses with a takedown attempt - Shamba sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arto Bambang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bambang moves to clinch but Shamba breaks away
enabling Shamba to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Arto Bambang has been cut.
Bambang shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shamba defends it nicely.
Shamba throws a shot from downtown. Bambang moves away and avoids it.
Bambang shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shamba as he avoids it easily.
Shamba wants to slow Bambang down by chopping away at his legs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bambang takes a swing at Shamba's ribcage but misses.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Bambang is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shamba knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bambang tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Bambang tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bambang has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bambang working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Bambang swings around for an armbar but Shamba sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bambang's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bambang has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Shamba should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Bambang has tightened it up now! Shamba should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
