The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
shakur looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
shakur avoids a punch combination nicely.

shakur gets back to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
shakur wants to control but Mercy is keeping busy.

Mercy drops an elbow to the side of shakur's head.

Mercy tries for a kimura but shakur is defending well.
You can see the frustration on shakur's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mercy looks up at the clock and then as shakur takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mercy smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
shakur takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

shakur is trying to control Mercy's posture but Mercy avoids it.
shakur is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mercy is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mercy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for shakur!
Mercy throwing strikes here but shakur is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Mercy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
shakur is in a horrible position here. Mercy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The referee warns shakur that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Mercy quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Mercy but it's paid off an shakur is forced to tap! Nice work by Mercy.
