Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Currie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kota Kamiya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Currie's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Helmet - Just Another Victim. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Currie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kota Kamiya!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Currie uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kamiya.
Currie fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kamiya is out of range.
Currie connects with a body shot that sends Kamiya's belly button to the back.
Kamiya throws a jab but it's blocked by Currie.
Currie cracks Kamiya with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That kick from Currie tenderised Kamiya's leg. Kamiya is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kamiya ducks under a wild hook from Currie.
Currie comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Currie takes one to the chin there.
Kamiya throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kamiya.
Kamiya fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Currie avoids it really well and circles away.
Currie lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kamiya thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kamiya tries a low kick but Currie avoids it.
Currie scores with a head kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kamiya closes the distance and clinches up with Currie, looking for a takedown. Kamiya pushes Currie against the cage but Currie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kamiya thuds his right hand into Currie's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kamiya misses with a straight right.

Currie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kamiya looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Kamiya can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Currie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kamiya.
Kamiya is looking to score with low kicks.

Currie avoids the body shot from Kamiya.
Currie lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kamiya takes a step back to recover.

Currie uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kamiya has time to react.

Kamiya is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

David Currie dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Currie cracks Kamiya with an open hand slap.
David Currie is winning the standup battle so far.
Kamiya jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kamiya takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Good leg kick by Currie there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kamiya uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Kamiya shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Currie pinned against the cage. Currie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Currie cracks a nice hook into Kamiya's ribs.
Currie moves out of range of the leg kick from Kamiya.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kamiya. Currie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Currie connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Kamiya throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kamiya fails to land the takedown.
David Currie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Currie throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Currie scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Currie moves out of range of the body kick from Kamiya.
Kamiya throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Currie cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Currie.
Kamiya tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Currie was well out of range. Poor timing from Kamiya.

Kamiya stuffs the takedown attempt from Currie. Currie gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Currie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Currie makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Some bone on bone action there as Kamiya checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Currie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kamiya uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Currie.

Currie throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kamiya stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Currie shoots in for a takedown but Kamiya shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kamiya throws a leg kick which misses Currie's front leg but catches the back leg as Currie tries to avoid it.

Currie feints a jab promting Kamiya to slip. Currie then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kamiya slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Currie pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Currie feints and then cracks Kamiya's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kamiya down.
Currie shoots in for a takedown but Kamiya shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kamiya wants to land a leg kick but Currie is out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Currie throws a looping overhand right but Kamiya ducks down to avoid it.
Kamiya throws out a loose jab but Currie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kamiya moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Kamiya throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Currie throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Kamiya keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Currie slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nice defenses there by Kamiya.
Currie lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kamiya's sensitive parts.
Currie cracks Kamiya with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Kamiya throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kamiya uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Currie.

Kamiya with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Currie to score with a decent uppercut.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Currie is trying to control the action in half guard but Kamiya is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kamiya is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Currie scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kamiya actively working from the bottom here.
Kamiya is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Currie lands with a punch from half guard.
Currie working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Kamiya is refusing to be controlled, as Currie sits in half guard.
Currie not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Currie is trying to control the action in half guard but Kamiya is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kamiya wants to get back to full guard.
Currie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kamiya with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
David Currie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kamiya regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kamiya had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Currie defends it easily.
Currie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kamiya looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Currie is in close to Kamiya's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Kamiya manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kamiya throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Well Currie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
