The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Thompson doesn't manage to clinch there - Simson circles away.

Simson shoots in and bounces Thompson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Simson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
